Clowne Branch Line Greenway is Go!
We have learnt today that Derbyshire County Council has completed the purchase of the disused Clowne branch of the long gone midland railway from Network Rail for a token sum.
Putting this disused railway back into (immediately local) public ownership enables the council to explore planning permission and funding for its development as a future greenway from Creswell, through Clowne and onto Poolsbrook County Park. This essentially provides an East/West link between the Trans Pennine Trail and NCN6 through Clumber Park, enabling some enormous potential for tourism, recreation and active travel in the near future..
